So did the swim class change schedule, or did the ex change which day she wanted the child to go?

This is important, because if whatever group is offering the class changed their schedule and you agreed to this extracurricular activity, you may just have to take the kid to swim class.

If the ex changed which day she wants the kid to go to swim class because she didn’t feel like taking them, then she can fuck herself, she can’t force you to do that.

As far as calling the school, that’s batshit insane. Schools do not enforce the parenting plan, and as long as you have joint legal custody, you can pick up your child on any day after school whether it’s your parenting time or not. The only time a school can prevent you from picking up your child is if there is an active restraining order against you doing so.

If the parenting plan says you have kid on Wednesdays, pick up your kid on Wednesdays. If the school hassles you, politely show them the parenting plan/court order. They will not listen to your ex wife over a court order.

If I were you I would get that kid in swimming lessons at a place and time that works for your schedule. Swimming lessons are GREAT for kids and one of the most critical life skills they need to learn.

So basically don’t make a mountain of a molehill here. Engage with ex as little as possible. If he goes to different extracurricular classes with you and his mom that’s fine.

Posture you want for dealing ex wife is basically, “I follow the court order: not ex’s whims, tantrums, or threats.” It’s quite lovely.
