Coming up on 12 months since she told me she wanted a divorce. For the last 6 months it has been back and forth trying to get a deal done but yesterday we did mediation and everything is finalized... Her attorney is getting it signed by the judge today so for all intents and purposes...we are done. I ended up with everything I wanted... she tried to take away all of my rights as a father, even though I've been a great father to our son (14 y/o) . In the end, we are joint conservators, 50/50 custody, I'm paying some child support, $1,200/mo but it will be for a little over 4 years. I'm ok with it... everything else, we have to both agree on everything...we are both restricted to living in our current school district and he is restricted to attending one of two high schools that we named in the decree...he can go somewhere else but we have to agree in writing.

Anyway, seems like a long journey and I didn't think we would be finished after mediation yesterday but I'm so happy it is done... a lot of feelings yesterday of sadness and relief and the heartbreak is still there...but I finally feel like I can move on now.

You all have been an inspiration and have helped get me through a lot... From books to read, to videos to watch...all very helpful... My journey is on here but I want to thank you all for getting me to this point.
