I had a child lawyer that allowed the wife's new boyfriend to stay after severe alienation and numerous verbal altercations that constituted verbal abuse. The kids went to the child lawyer and got him kicked out. He then blackmailed the kids with a puppy (threatened to take it with him). They had an about face then next day and the child lawyer let him stay on a trial basis. The next day when I met the child lawyer and confronted her in front of the clerk she replies "you married her". I replied "you won't be seeing the kids ever again". She replied "I don't need your permission". I replied "we will see about that". I went home and told all the kids what she said and explained what happen and how they got screwed by not only the boyfriend and mommy but alse the child lawyer. We all had a nice laugh (i make fun of the system constantly). We determined that the kids won't be seeing any more child advocates and I gave my word I won't let nobody to them again. That was the last time anyone came knocking. Took years in a silver bullet process. Countless unfounded CPS visits. At least 5 cop visits (2 proven false reports). At least 5 sheriff's visits related to an order of protection and subsequent "violations" all proven false reports. I put the lawyers, the child lawyer, the clerk on full blast in front of a packed waiting room. I called them out one by one and let them know that they are indulging in a farse and that I am coming after their licenses one day. That was half a year ago. Oh did they sing a different tune after. Everything changed that day. Bring your fucking balls and thick tree trunk legs into court. Cool calm and collected only works In civil discourse. If people are trying to fuck your life up with lies, you better be ready to fuck up them up verbally or they will carve you up on a platter and bill you for their time as the moneyed spouse. Then they will claim moral superiority because it was all done in "the children's best interests".

Most GAL's tend to be feminists and support women. The good thing is that most lies don't matter in court which tends to award 50-50 custody by default. However, the CS and money aspect is where you may get hit. I would suggest prudence and very limited disclosure when it comes to finances

Ultimately, the court weighs all evidence, expert evaluations, and testimony before making custody decisions, not just the GAL report.

Rolling Meadows or Daley Center? GALs are really hit and miss, they're just family law attorneys that put on a different hat from time to time, at least in Illinois. So maybe he knows your wife's lawyer really well or maybe he's banging your wife. Who knows. What does your lawyer say? Who actually pays his invoice, you or your wife?

I had a Gal that hated me for some reason and believed every ridiculous allegation the ex made. Was hostile, wouldn’t return emails, and when we finally got to trial supported my ex’s demand that I get zero custody and only supervised visitation.

The judge saw through it all and granted me (less than I wanted) custody and was openly contemptuous of the GAL.

I felt hopeless and scared as I represented myself in the five day trial where the ex had unlimited funds (GAL even sat with the ex and her lawyer during the trial).

Keep going and showing that you’ll do everything you can to be with your kid goes farther than anything an asshole GAL can do. Reach out if you need someone to talk to. I’ll help however I can.
