So I have joint custody of my 4 year old son with my ex. We have a court order custody agreement of 60/40 with me getting 60. I still have to pay her 250 in child support. I bust my ass and work full time 44 hours a week. I take care of my son 60 percent of the time and yet I still have to give her money. She gets to continue with her job of 20 hours a week and drink and party the rest of the time, never even attempting to better herself or job. How is this even fair.

I don’t know what jurisdiction you’re in, but in Canada you can make an argument that your ex is underemployed. The court can then impute her a higher income, which may reduce or eliminate the child support you pay her.
And yes, in most places the system remains biased against fathers. It’s bullshit. Talk to your government rep, start a protest, etc to get the laws changed.

I hear you. The pendulum used to be far over on the other end of the swing, when women and kids who were abandoned by the husband/father were left living in poverty while the assholes ran off and ignored all sense of responsibility. Now that the pendulum has swung, it's pretty far over on the side that biases against men, but work is being done to change that. Some of the provinces in Canada just recently (2013 where I live) instituted a new family law that makes it more equitable, where there is no mention of "mother" or "father" - term is "parent" for both sides. It's not "custody", it's "guardianship." Not "visitation", it's "parenting time". Language like that is meaningful.
There are still examples of courts here that show bias towards women in a divorce, but the hope is that the bias will die off with the older judges.
We do still need all dads to pull together and pressure our governments to treat men and women equally in family law cases everywhere.
