Hey all, I’m at the very beginning of a divorce that I don’t want. Like many others, I was blindsided when she filed the paperwork. While I struggled to keep our family together with marital counseling (we have a 2yr old daughter), she was already talking to lawyers. She moved in with her gf and left everything we built together for me to deal with, including our newly built home. All she wants is half custody, and to escape all other responsibilities. While she is determined to get half custody, she only visits our daughter once a week for 2 hours whenever it is convenient for her. She makes no attempt to contact our daughter for visitation or a phone call. If I didn’t request she see her kid, she probably wouldn’t bother.

I have no idea what I’m doing with this divorce paperwork. Feeling pretty helpless at the moment. Sounds crazy, but I don’t want this divorce, and so I don’t know what I should be fighting for. Custody, child support, alimony or just give her whatever she wants? We live in CO (no fault), and it’s likely they’ll give her half custody anyway. I don’t know if spending money on a lawyer is worth it. Since I took over all the bills, I don’t have lawyer money.

All I know is I am never getting married again. What’s the point?
