What is an 8/6 arrangement like for the parent with 6 nights?
After a highly contentious, almost 4 year, over half million dollar divorce, it’s looking like I will be a six out of every 14 night parent.
This is not what I want, but it looks like that’s how it will be. I have fought long and very hard for 50/50, but my ex has refused to compromise and this appears to be what the judge will order. I firmly believe that my ex dragged this out because she would owe child support on this schedule (even though I have agreed to waive it).
6 night parents - what is it like for you?
A couple of questions:
- Did your co parent ever give up and just give you 50/50, realizing that the fight was over?
- How does the “off week,” where you only have one night work/feel?
- Developmentally, did it become a problem for the kids?
- Any other problems come up?
- If you didn’t ever get an agreement on 50/50, were you ever able to go back to court to get to 50/50?
Basically, my oldest is almost 10. I’ve got eight years left before he goes to college and I’m talking about 400+ nights that I will never have back, let alone with my other children.
I want my divorce to be over, but I think this might be the best I can do, given my ex.
I hate having to “settle” over my kids, but unfortunately, this has always been out of my control.
I just would love any insight so I can have some idea how this might actually work.
Thanks everyone.
