I don't know to where to even begin. I've been married for 8 years. And about a month ago, I decided I wanted a divorce. I've had this lost feeling for a while. A year? 2 years? I don't know. Just something was wrong. I didn't know how to approach it. We never really communicated. We talked but didn't communicate. When we first started out, she'd get upset and sulk in our bedroom and then I'd go placate her. Guess I gave up after a while. Intimacy declined until nothing for the last year or so. I was the one initiating all the time, but it wasn't the right week. Ok, let me know when? Nothing. Recent me and my work BFF came close as I started talking about these things with her. We started hanging out on the weekend until a few weeks later my wife called her husband, who were on the verge of separating. He shows up while we were walking somewhere starts yelling at me and his wife. At this point, I'm livid. I go home and tell my wife we're done. It's been a month and we nearly said 4 sentences to each other. Mostly it's me trying to make small talk, hoping to see what her plans are to separate, move out, etc. I just get shoulder shrugs. I felt that I sacrificed everything to keep us financially afloat, including my retirement. She goes off and buys whatever, gets tattoos and plushies. She works but she makes like 1/2 what I make, yet contributes a 1/4 of what I put in. Am I wrong for feeling angry about that? She cleans the house, but somehow the room she just cleaned is a disaster the next day. Laundry is done half assed. She leaves empty boxes everywhere. I pick them up and ask if she needs them. I forgot, she says. I say just toss it right away then. She'll argue saying something well I don't complain when you leave the seat up or something stupid like that. I guess I just checked out at this point. Me and my girl friend started dating for real after that. I feel guilty leaving the wife at home. A few times I stayed overnight because we were at the beach or she drank too much, which isn't the norm for her. Her divorce isn't going well because her husband is not letting go. He's like a emotional swinging door. I have a small circle of friends and a couple are supportive, but a few aren't because they are my wife's friends and they believe I cheated on her. Emotionally? Maybe. I feel she drove me too it. Now she doesn't want to talk about. I want to tell her why, but at the same time I don't want to hurt her. It's why I didn't say anything till I got pushed. I feel so comfortable with my friend, unlike I ever did with my wife. Yet I am torn. Did I do the wrong thing? Am I a terrible person for breaking her heart to someone every perseved as being dedicated to me?
