My kids are finally old enough to start asking questions about why we got separated. They aren't old enough to understand the nuances of a failed relationship though.

Unfortunately my ex has told them her version of events and what she saw as the causes for the divorce, and they have accepted it as truth.

I was in the car with my son and he asked "why did you and Mom get separated". I answered with a somewhat vague, and overall un-biased version of what I've come to understand as the cause of the split.

He then say "no, that's not it. It's cause you were too grumpy and mean"

I fucking hate my ex.
