My wife told me she no longer loved me and wanted a separation 3 weeks ago. It’s been a living hell. We have two young kids and a great family life, all she talked about was how happy she was and how much she loved our life together.

I’ve been keeping it together. Therapy, eating right, no alcohol/drugs, no nicotine, gym 5 days a week, spending quality time with the kids/friends/other family. Being respectful and supportive to her, and helping her with everything I can, basically continuing to be the rock of the family even though it feels like my life ended.

Today I was especially distracted because she let me know that she was thinking about seeing other people and imagining what her life would look like and just wanted to be honest with me where her head was at. I went to the gym shortly after that conversation and in my haze I dropped a 45lb plate on my foot and I’m pretty sure it’s broken. I think this is the straw that broke the camels back. I cried in the gym change room for 10 minutes before I could go to the hospital. This silly, stupid mistake really feels like it pushed me over the edge and I can’t stop thinking about ending it all. I need some wisdom, I don’t want to abandon my kids and scar them for life. It feels like I can’t live and I’m not allowed to die.
