But your kids are older and they know what's going on, so do it now. Don't wait 3 months.

Rip the band aid. My wife will be served around the time of her birthday and anniversary. She’s become unbearable. I’ll take the kicking and screaming now versus dealing with her daily tantrums throughout the year.

Would Christmas really be that much better with things the way they are?? I seriously doubt it. Just go ahead with it and get it over. The sooner it is over, the sooner you can get on with your life.

That's ridiculous to even consider, you will see it after you start the divorce.

Breaking of a marriage of 25 years will affect multiple Christmases and it's a life event, in many cases quite tragic and disastrous. Whereas Christmas is just a decoration of life, nothing significant.

If you gain something positive from waiting, like your wife is expected to have a huge end of year bonus, then wait by all means. But I assume you'd mention it if it was the case.

There is no good time. If you do it now you ruin halloween... or wait a couple weeks then it's thanksgiving... and so on... go ahead and add someone's birthday in there too.

Just don't do it on the day... then every christmas is also d day anniversary.

I'm sorry to hear it's come to this for you. If you're leaving her, then you're doing it for your own health. Waiting will just post pone the inevitable. Maybe give the kids a heads up and mention that you didn't wanna ruin xmas, since they'll understand.

I'm 2 weeks into separation, my kids are 1 and 3... I never got to have xmas with just them and my wife. In-laws have always been here. You could wait and just make the most out of that last family xmas if you think it could be special or one last hoorah. Otherwise I say rip the bandaid.
