Alot depends upon your circumstances. Do you have a suitable place for the child? If you have a good lawyer (worth their weight in gold), suggest following their advice.

The only person who should be giving you less then 50/50 time with your child should be the judge don't let them bully you

Just be aware that the pretrial/settlement conference is 1/ a pressure cooker where the point is to get somebody to settle 2/ the GAL is a lawyer and uses lawyer tactics, including bluffs, threats, and lies 3/ everything, including unethical behavior, is confidential, so there are no repercussions 4/ if you say “yes” or “I agree” you are bound to whatever. You may have fewer friends in the room than you think. The judge wants somebody to buckle, and isn’t thinking of your best interest, the best deal you can get, what’s fair, etc. Your lawyer might be a settler, despite professing that they’re going to fight for you, and their fight stops at pissing off a judge or GAL. The GAL has the best interest of her business in mind, knowing she can strike the fear of God in you and your lawyer by threatening to take what matters most to you, she has power and won’t likely be questioned.

Pretrial is typically JUST the judge and lawyers. Your lawyer works for you so if you can get 50/50 you better be asking for it and END UP with 60/40, otherwise you might find 60/40 turns into 80/20.

Pretrial is both attorneys laying out what you don't agree on and the judge makes recommendations - those are the judge saying 'if this goes to a trial, im VERY likely going to rule as I have recommended'.

Please go for 50/50 time if you can manage it because it will be a nightmare to get it once the court settles on a set amount. You'll spend 5x+ trying to get 50/50 along with joint decision making (i.e. where they go to school). You don't want to be in a situation where mom decides a year from now she's moving 75+miles from where you're at now.

Not sure where you live but usually there’s no pre-trial conference until mediation fails. Pre-trial conferences usually just involve the lawyers and judge and the whole purpose is scheduling- ie determining if is this going to be a 2 day trial or 2 hr.
