Inheritance is not community property. It isn't.

IT JUST ISN'T, especially when it hasn't been spent and it's sat in the same place since it was deposited untouched.

I moved my inheritance into my own account a few days ago. We are trying to divide the cash and minor CC debt but she keeps stalling. I am out of money and won't be able to pay either my support payments or my mortgage in May on time. Prior to the divorce process, all our accounts that I knew about were joint accounts. All of our finances were joint. I've since discovered she was hiding some things and had accounts I didn't have knowledge of.

She got mad when I did this of course. Even though it was given to me literally days before I found out about her affair. She knew what was going on and was perfectly happy to take it to the bank and deposit it for me while I was working that day. So damned dishonest and now I'm supposed to trust? Now I'm supposed to be okay with splitting it with her? I'm going to nope out of that thank you.

That money is mine. If in the end it means the difference between me and my boys keeping the only home they have ever known I will not die on this hill. I'll split it with her, hell I will GIVE it to her if it helps me keep the home. I get to be the parent who sacrificed for my children's well being and she gets to be the the person who stole her husband's inheritance. She gets to be that person for the REST OF HER LIFE. Fine by me. She's already the person who cheated on her husband of 16 years, the man who has supported her for all of those 16 years through hard work and dedication. The man who has worked to invest in our future, pay for our home, spoil her for years. The man you she now says never made her feel loved even though he said it to her daily and showed her through physical acts of affection which were rejected regularly, by working to be the best damned father he could be, being a well respected member of the community and just generally being the kindest person he could be. The man who tried his damned to be the best husband and leave old resentments behind and love truly and completely. Yet she would say he never made her feel loved and that makes it okay to take everything from him, betray him and her children for someone from her high school years who is also married and probably isn't going to leave his wife for her....

Whatever. It is my money though. I'm not going to let you steal it from me blindly and I will never trust you to care for my interests again.
