My ex and I agreed to a raise child support after 7 years of me paying the minimum $200/mo. This is bc we agreed to 50/50, despite the standard possession court order. Recently, she asked to raise child support. I realized my income (100k) child support would be around $1200. She makes 60k so I offset our salary, resulting in $700/mo.

I’m in Texas, Collin County. Very shitty on fathers, even active fathers. She doesn’t know my exact income and agreed to $700/mo. I want to make a mediated agreement legally binding but I’m concerned a mediator would divulge my income to her. Knowing her, and the state of Texas, I can guarantee she’d ask for the $1200 in exchange for 50/50 on paper. Then a judge would still ultimately have to sign it, the final boss lol

My ex and I have been very amicable for past 7 years, she has a bf, etc. My options are to continue the 50/50 split and pay the $500/mo increase off papers or risk her getting the MSA/lawyer counsel for her to realize how much she could get.

We made an agreement and created our own parenting plan and notarized it at a bank WHICH doesn’t hold much weight in court, I get that, however we do take this agreement seriously, and history has shown we’re amicable. I know there are some risks here like her asking to raise it again or worse, start holding my daughter or something.

I simply could not afford $1200 child support AND have my daughter half the time, in addition to all her extra curricular. What are y’all’s thoughts? Thank you 🙏
