I repeatedly has to ask my now exwife "what do you want?" And she would never reply with specifics. Only generalizations like "What I am entitled to!"

It wasn't until we tried mediation that she said she was going for every last dime of mine -- past, present and future.

I said, "hell no" to mediation" and went to trial. Her expectations were over the top. She expected more than I make from my job -- in combination of Alimony, CS, and then me to pay half of her DUI fines (they're a marital debt she claimed) and then for me to pay for her to have a commercial insurance plan again. My lawyer asked her, "You know how much he makes. How is he supposed to live?" And her reply was, "I don't know. This is just what I need."

The judge had to give her a take down. She got $0 alimony.

I’m not sure how the laws work in your country but I will say that women will behave exactly the same way regardless of where you’re located on the planet.

She’s going to make it as difficult and expensive for you as possible. Thats why she’s saying if you want something have your lawyer ask since she knows you’ll get billed for it. Personally I got tired of the dribble of information and had my lawyer demand 2 years of every single monthly financial statement in existence. She printed it all out, mixed everything into a big jumble of paper and had her brother drop it off at my lawyers office. I got billed $1.5k just to have them put everything in chronological order and scan it haha. But, I did get everything I needed and then she got wrecked in mediation. Don’t let it get to you, this is how it goes.

Mate as a fellow Aussie I’m feeling your pain right now, I’ve had my lawyer he for a trial date asap - probably get slightly worse result in court but time to get moving. Good luck on your journey through this rubbish situation mate.

If she will not respond to a reasonable offer or make a reasonable demand, have your lawyer request a trial date at the earliest possible date. A looming trial date is an incentive for settlement.
