Not sure what anyone else’s experience with separation, reconciliation efforts (successful or not), or divorce are, but I had to find out the hard way that advice and involvement is not necessarily helpful - particularly from family.

Mine knew the base details at the beginning, but have seemingly felt an increasing right and need to know more and share what they think I should be doing. It’s gotten to the point where they’ve made the situation more difficult no matter how many times I say I’m not willing to discuss details of my relationship, to the point that regardless of whether or not we figure things out, my relationship with my family has been permanently altered. I understand wanting the best for your child or a family member, but I’ve found the lack of ability to leave things alone borders on disrespect. It’s certainly been a lesson for me in setting harder boundaries and opened my eyes to past behavior by family that I didn’t clock for what it was.
