Talk to a lawyer, discuss your intentions to divorce, then file and serve her.

Don’t tell her ahead of time, don’t discuss your intentions with her, and don’t give her any indication anything’s going on. If you reveal your intentions she will do everything in her power to fuck you over before you can make the first move.

Not sure your situation. Giving my wife a boundary in our possibly temporary separation and her inability to meet me in the middle for a limited time frame and then being blamed for everything and getting nasty with me was enough. I told her I did not feel like reconciliation was healthy any longer. Since then it's like the sun came out for the first time in years. So many positives, but random circumstances popped up. Realtor reached out and said we are in a good spot to sell the house. My family is overjoyed to have me move back to my home state. They opened up about how one sided my marriage looked to be and that they were happy I was making moves for myself. The biggest being my old bosses reaching out about how the restaurant I was offered to run opened and they missed me there. I opened up and told them everything. They on the spot offered me an interim position and the next store that is set to open.

Depending on your situation and headspace it may be the best for you to tear off the bandaid and roll with it.

When you say Financials are separate, be specific. How so?

What is the diff between your salaries?

Are you in a common law state?

For the most part, separate financials, property, etc, don't matter in community propery states. What state are you in? Chances are that if she is indifferent towards you, she is going to be relieved to hear you want to divorce. Don't move out, go for 50% custody, don't do marriage counseling if suggested, wait to hook up with other wonen, and be prepared for an 'amicable' divorce becomes not so amicable. Does she work? How long was marriage?
