I feel like I’m in a really weird spot, and curious if others have found themselves in the same.

I’ve been married to my wife for 6 years, we have a 2.5 year old son. For the most part things have been fine, but lately I have grown beyond bored, unattached, and I find myself fantasizing about being on my own (with 50/50 custody), and having my own autonomy. Wife and I make the same amount of money so I don’t expect there’d be much child support or anything.

Well, we had a talk yesterday that didn’t necessarily go amazing. But it’s a step in the direction towards the separation I’ve been thinking so much about. However, as we discuss, I find myself saying things that are working towards salvaging the relationship. I don’t know if it’s because I feel guilty, like I’m making the wrong decision, fear of the unknown, or if it’s just habit to fight.

So guys, I guess what I’m asking. Have any others been through this? Have you found yourself wanting to separate but afraid to actually hold strong, commit, and make the jump?
