There is not a single person in the world who would call a woman being graped 'dramatic' for crying, except perhaps the grapists themselves.
What a moronic thing to write. I'll bet you anything that the woman who wrote that votes for politicians who make policies that release grapists from prison early.

Say rape, not grape.

I am mimicking the writer of that post. I was going to put it in quotes, but it is next to 'dramatic' which needed to be in quotes.

I think that "men are not allowed to cry" is valid but a relatively tiny piece of discrimination of men. This is something that feminists can acknowledge, it fits into their dogma. They refuse everything else but say "yes indeed men are not allowed to cry in patriarchy" to show that they are aware of tiny negligible male issues.

But only because they can still blame that on (other) men.
[–]SuperMario69Kraft 6 points7 points8 points 2 weeks ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Maybe also because feminists realize how women benefit from men being more vulnerable. Most women feel like they're deprived of emotionally intelligent men, just as most men feel deprived of sex.

What is "female cry-shaming"!

The ones telling women not to cry are other women... but if course cant possibly hold women accountable without inventing a reason to blame the penis in the room.

At one place I worked, it was mostly female with a few guys, and most of the women were late 20s-early 30s. There was this one 19 year old girl working there who was crying one morning, because she'd wrecked her car that morning and was already dealing with her mother having a terminal illness. One of the 30 year old women started yelling at her, and the girl got really upset and left for the day.
The guys (including the supervisor) asked what happened, mostly out of curiosity, not like condemning her or anything because we had no idea what was up. The woman said that she was angry and yelled at the girl, because if she got this upset over "little stuff", what would she do when something really shitty happened? We all said together "so you decided to be really shitty to her and see what would happen!", cause we thought the reasoning there was fucking hilarious. She didn't find it funny.

Same do lots of women say about gynecologists in practice. Many female doctors see their own bodily problems as minor enough to be ignored so they are often mistreating their patients and causing discomfort to their private spaces, I heard in our country there was huge shaming, imposing the idea that they should have sex / find a husband, and that's debatably patriarchy. While the male gynecologists are often considered more precise and accurate, because they see women as having a foreign nature to them and thus deserving a more gentle treatment.

Even most feminists complain more about men not being allowed to cry; yet this Gish-gallop totally looks like something that could easily shift the feminist narrative to favor even more female victimhood.

My sister once recalled how a female classmate of hers in high school started crying and pleading after receiving a low grade in an ordinary test; lo and behold, they raised her grade.
She was obviously pissed off at that display

I’m sorry, I thought this was whataboutism? I thought this was “derailing the conversation”? Or is that only applicable when it’s about women’s problems?

It's not about whether women are allowed to cry on not. In fact it's not about women at all. Its about the fact that men's relationships tend to be much less emotionally open, due to societal standards which leads to deeper isolation among men, and that is the problem that needs to fixed. Making it about irrelevant issues (to the problem at hand, not irrelevant in the general scheme of things) like the (presumably) woman in the post is doing, is utterly useless.

While I'm sure individually it does happen, on a social level, is just even close to the same. Men are expected to adapt and conform in order to put women's feelings above our own.

She's entirely wrong on the last part (the 'grape'). But on the first part ; she's partly right. Women are told that they're too emotional. But what she conveniently leaves out is that men are told much worse. Men , in this department , have it objectively worse , upto and including people questioning if you're "really a man"

Tbh this post would be adequate without first ""men aren't allowed to cry"". It's a fact that women are considered to be driven by emotions and misogyny still exists but this post sounds like author is trying to devalue men's problems to exaggerate her own.
