No. What's causing this rise is conversations and comments like this being taken totally out of context, or these tiny, individual comments - which are genuinely rare amongst feminist discourse - being amplified by anti-feminist voices.

See how they just grab this "FEMINIST SAID THIS" attitude. They don't even understand what "feminist" means. They talk about feminists as if we are some single unified mind and that we all agree with each other and that one woman who appeared on a TV show that was probably viewed by 10 people, is representative of the attitudes of feminists all over.

I get what she's trying to say, but she's gone the wrong way about it. And someone who hates (ie doesn't understand) feminism has cherry picked this and amplified it so someone who might be on the edge of RP/incel ideas can say "look at what feminists are saying! They are the reason everything is messed up!" If anything, she's probably a very poor feminist commentator, which is why she was specifically picked to appear on some Piers Morgan show. I would even expect that the show - which I believe appears on Piers Morgan's own right wing channel - intentionally tried to steer and twist her into an awkward position so that she would slip up and say something stupid, and then talk over her before she gets to explain her point.

However, if you actually listen to what most feminists are saying - which is what I do - you'll hear a much more positive conversation going on. What I would say is that boys are afraid to touch anyone because they're afraid of being called out, because a lot of these right wing commentators have been spreading this message of "you can't say or do anything without being done for sexual assault any more" which is absolute bullshit. The reality is that women are finally finding a voice to call out the actions that make them uncomfortable and being able to say when their consent is violated.

The solution is not men being terrified - men should not avoid violating a woman's consent merely because they fear the consequences of their own life. The solution should be those men learning about consent, and understanding that if they do not respect that consent, they are bringing harm to that woman. And if they understand that women are humans and not objects, and if they can develop basic empathy, then knowing that they are causing harm to someone else should motivate them to not do it. I don't avoid touching women inappropriately because I'm scared I might get "cancelled". I avoid touching women inappropriately because I know it's not a nice thing to do to someone. And in turn, learning all of this will help them set their own boundaries, so that they can have the same say about who can touch them and how and when.

Personally, the fact that a very tiny percent of women are crazy, has never turned me RP or anything like it. Just like the fact that a tiny percent of men are crazy has never made me hate men.

If 0.1% of the opposite gender makes someone hate the entire group of that gender, then I'd say the problem is lack of education in psychology, statistics, critical thinking, scientific method, social issues and happiness from ages 10 to 18.

There are 8 billion people on the planet, and most of them are probably on the internet. If you look for it, you will find crazy women and crazy men. If you look for a reason to be upset, you will find it. I wonder, why are you looking for it?

Actually, I think it's carefully curated rage bait content like what you posted that's doing it. What did I see here? 10 seconds of some probably low level discussion regarding boundaries? If that's what it was even about? I'm a functional adult and therefore not stupid enough to get radicalized into being a misandrist by something some woman maybe said on some trashy daytime talkshow. Some teenager or immature adult man certainly might though.

The fact of the matter is that a lot of men are still way too handsy and if a guy is worried that he might be too handsy then he probably is. It's not too hard for heterosexual guys to figure out what is appropriate either. "Would I touch a male stranger this way? Yes? No?" It's not that hard, be wary of boundaries. Be attentive and pay attention to how other people feel and don't invade their bubble without consent.

Someone brought this clip up yesterday. The full context of the quote is ‘boys should be terrified’ of the consequence of sexual assault…which is a reasonable position to take.

The same ‘crazy feminist’ then said she agrees that when women retroactively withdraw consent that isn’t sexual assault (in reference to the Aziz Ansari case)

No I don’t agree. Cos if that’s what men think, that one person speaks for all. That her opinion is the opinion of all women. Then men must be very child like in their thinking and should be surprised if another man thinks differently to them cos obviously all men must think the same if all women think the same. It’s sad, it’s ludicrous, it’s shows zero reality testing and it’s clearly a way of getting views and keeping people divided. And you are falling for it hook line and sinker. If I had been there, I would have destroyed that woman with one sentence. And I’m a chick so she would have cried.

It's interesting to me how the social acceptance of casual sex has contributed to the problem of "incels." Up until very recently, you either had to be married or go to a brothel to have sex as a man. (As a woman, you had to wait until marriage or face social disgrace.) The former required resources, which required men to be a certain age to acquire those resources in the first place, so they probably weren't having a lot of sex anyway. The latter wasn't really socially acceptable, but it was a thing. So...I don't know that I can accept that it's the lack of sex that is driving these men to depression...it's the fact that they're not getting it when others are.

To some extent. I have seen before video where girl told some guy saved her life from drowning, but still sued him for SA for touching her, but here's the thing. They are just vocal minority.

Those types of crazies are just about 0.1% of the feminist movement, but stupidest and most vocal minority get most attention. Your everyday feminist is not like this.
