I have abandonment issues myself and it can be really unhealthy because you end up being dependent on others for emotional support. You also don’t feel like you can survive on your own so you have to cling to others.

Thank you for this .... I think I just realized this is where a lot of my difficulties come from. I hit almost every one of those and have been really struggling lately after ending an 8 year relationship that I stayed in for way too long. Not to mention things in my past and childhood ... This will be really helpful for me to learn how to heal properly. Thank you.

I had massive abandonment issues as a child. I thought my parents were going to leave me for good. If they went out together without me I'd start panicking (till like 14)... That fear has bled into my adult life. I've gotten therapy for it and have been doing better but sometimes it is really hard to realize it's time to leave.

After reading the article the only possible reason from there would be death... My moms mom died when I was 1 year old and I know it had a big impact on my own mother. I feel like that's a far reach though??
