Have been on two dates with someone I'm interested in, although he gives me total fuckboy vibes. That being said, he's only been in the US a few years and I'm the most suspicious person ever when it comes to very attractive men. But we do have a LOT in common-culture, struggles, work ethic, and much more, so I've been interested in continuing the vetting process to make sure I'm not jumping to conclusions because he's so damn attractive.

We went on a date last night, he came across town to a place just a few minutes from me and we had a really nice dinner full of tons of great conversation (BTW This is a pretty stark contrast from his messaging which is sparse and he often leaves me on read for anywhere from a few hours to 24h). Later, we took an Uber from the restaurant to a bar/club where we made out and danced. He, of course, asked me if I wanted to come back to his place. I was prepared for this, so I said no with my most feminine/pretty smile.

He got a pretty butthurt but was still really polite and not pushy, we stayed and danced a little longer. He paid for everything, opened doors for me, helped me into my coat, and then he got me an Uber back to my car and one to take him back to his place.

I told him today that I had a great time and not to be disappointed, because I don't sleep with people quickly. He said he wasn't disappointed that I didn't sleep with him, but rather that he felt led on, but he understood where I was coming from. I said "thank you for understanding, that means a lot." Positive reinforcement I guess?

Haven't heard back from him. Don't say anything else, right?

How do you not get your hopes up when there's someone you actually like quite a bit? Is it fair for a guy (who probably doesn't get turnef down often) to need some time to get over the rejection?

ETA: y'all are totally right. Moment of stupidity/weakness. He's blocked and I'm taking my HVW self elsewhere.
