What is convenient for YOU? What do YOU want to do? Put yourself first. If you’re going to be jet lagged that’s totally fine to reschedule the date. It gives the impression you’re busy and that you’re not dropping everything in your life to cater for him.

Put yourself first and do what makes you comfortable but be confident! Don’t apologise for rescheduling. Tell him that you’re rescheduling. Be strong and confident in your decision. It gives the impression that you’re busy and your time is valuable.

If he doesn’t understand or is stroppy then you know right away he’s LVM and cut him off right away! If he’s okay then he respects your decision and your time then enjoy your date!

You're not obligated to tell him anything or to go on a date. It's not LV behavior to cancel/reschedule politely. The way how you bring the message makes the difference, I think. In your shoes, I would text him this:

'Hi, I liked your proposition for a date on .......... But I gave my calendar another look, and it would be way better for me to reschedule to ............. How does that sound to you?'.

You don't excuse yourself, you are just putting your needs first which is perfectly healthy and a 👸move. You also give him a opportunity to respond positive or negative (if it's the latter one; block and delete).

I just rescheduled a first date with a guy today. We meant to meet on Sunday but I got an email from my RA that I have to do some lab work on that day. I told him politely what actually happened and he understood and also proposed another day next week. My advise it to put your needs first and tell him the situation. If he’s cool with it, he’ll respect you and find another day to date you. If he’s angry, then it’s his lost. Good luck! 💕

I think if it were reversed a lot of us here wouldn't give him a chance. We would be yelling LVM in a heartbeat.

Dating is tough and I think you have an interest in this person. As a compromise just keep the date light and not lengthy....no need to go into detail about why.

I see "first dates" similar to job interviews. Would you ever reschedule a job interview for a job you were interested in because you were jetlagged? of course not, you would drink coffee, pop pills and put on undereye concealer lol if you wanted that job bad enough.
