So I was seeing someone for about a month - got quite intense quite quickly, and actually he showed all the signs of being a HVM. I am a student who studies out of my home city so he was aware from the beginning that I would not be in the city I am permanently.

Whilst we have been dating, he would say things like 'I'm so happy to have met you', 'I really want to take you to xyz (and follow through)' etc. He was also extremely respectful towards me, planned thoughtful dates and would make sure I got home safely. Then yesterday, out of the blue, he called me and said he doesn't think that a LDR would ever work for him. I ended the conversation early for 2 reasons: I was upset and didn't want him to hear on the phone, but also because I was a bit annoyed he led me on for a month when he knew I would be going away. He has had a previous LDR for 3 years that became toxic so he said that the thought of another LDR was making him anxious.

Now he has texted me to say he is 'checking up on me' and 'regretting what he said'.

Have not replied yet but should I and if so, what should I say? Should I give him another chance?
