I wouldn’t class meeting for coffee as a date, it’s very low effort. A date would be something that I’d want a guy to arrange and make a special effort with.. I wouldn’t message him, if he’s that into you he’ll contact you and I’d hope arrange something better than coffee.

If you don't know if it was a date, it's not a date. Usually a low effort date like that isn't anything to be excited about

1) It's not a date

2) Don't message him. The fact you had a coffee date shows he's not interested in a relationship with you, just want to bone you (because he's reluctant to spend more than $2 on a date with you so he's not investing to get you, he's thinking short term not long term)

3) Read the handbook

4) If you still want to see him, no more low effort cheap dates. If he refuses, then he really just wants to get into your pants and discard you for the lowest possible price.
