My father checked himself out of fatherhood pretty early. Leaving me to believe men are undependable. So I gravitated towards men I knew I could never depend on. No car, no job, no career, no proof of any ambition, nothing. I also knew if these men left, or I left I would be ok. Because I never relied on them either way. Now I know my worth, I am worthy of a reliable man, because I'm myself extremely reliable. Now when I meet unreliable men, I get grossed out and think of my dad. Sometimes we won't recognize HVM behavior right away, especially if we never witnessed it in real life, but we deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and love.
