My boyfriend and I recently had a conversation regarding expectations and timelines about the future. I've made it clear that for me, an engagement is needed prior to living together; and ideally, within 2 years of dating. We've been together for about 9 months. We are both fairly particular people in terms of style, he has bought me lovely gifts in the past and knows I like high-end items, as does he. He has incredible taste, and I am sure he'd pick out a beautiful ring. I've followed FDS strictly throughout our courtship.

We are mid-20s, and while it is on my mind, I am in no rush to get engaged, but, he mentioned potentially stopping at Tiffany's sometime to browse and get a better idea of my taste. I am so happy we've discussed this, and I think our goals/values/interests and attraction align quite well.

How do you ladies feel about this? Does it take the romance out of it? I think for me, this feels similar to the round-about way I would do it anyway, which would be *subtly* showing him rings I saw on my Instagram or whatever. However, I don't want this to be an opportunity for future-faking or something of the like. I do have very strong opinions on clothing/jewerly/design so I can see why he would want to just get a general idea, plus I love trying things on. Anyway, just would love some guidance from you ladies! What are your expectations regarding a proposal and ring ? :)
