Um, probably not. If you’re not attracted you’re not attracted. Just because most people don’t meet your standards doesn’t mean you should lower your standards

For me, there’s a difference between attraction in a picture and attraction in real life. I’ve met plenty of guys who were physically attractive but had a repulsive personality and I’ve met a handful of guys that I would never have picked out of a lineup as attractive or my type, but seeing them in person and interacting with them makes them attractive to me. If I didn’t find him unattractive (I.e. he’s not ugly just not my usual type) but his personality over the text or app or whatever was good, I would probably go on at least one date just to see how it is in person. Not to say you should just give anyone a chance, and if you don’t normally experience attraction like that then probably not worth it for you.

ETA - my initial attraction to physical appearance also tends to lead me towards guys that aren’t good for me tho, so I also examine my attraction to guys through that lens. I have made a continued effort to not be ruled by my initial tendency to go for “bad boys” and it’s made me realize that my “type” is actually much broader than I initially thought when it was just my dysfunction doing the picking.

You should have an attraction to the person you're dating and you cant force yourself to like someone. I think we fall in love with the attention from the unattractive guys or maybe we feel like we are obliged to "give them a chance" because of pickmesha society dictating that. Dont waste your time going on a date with this man who you dont even like, it's like settling for a cheap ugly dress while shopping because you feel bad for it and even though it's an ugly dress and doesnt actually suit you, you still buy it, neglecting the hundreds of other dresses in the store. Theres so many other fish in the sea and YOUD BE SETTLING with a guy you find unattractive. Dont settle. Edit: autocorrects

No. You're not attracted to him. Even if there is a shortage of men who are your type, this isn't a good reason to go on a date with a guy. The only good reason to go on a date is if you want to go on a date with him. If you have to make a persuasive argument for yourself, it's a no.

Think about it, if you get in a relationship with this guy you're always going to be unhappy and looking at other men you're more attracted to. It's okay to like what you like!

Preferences can change. HV people come in a wide range of colors, heights, and styles. Some you won't like by default. Im the power tool gal so a metro guy won't be my speed but otherwise, I've dated most 'types'.

Standards should be SKY HIGH. Preferences, however, are adaptive and having a laundry list of superficial traits is not the best way to find a HVM. Typically, my friends and I will give a guy 3 chances assuming he's well kept and decent looking to see if our attraction builds or not. He might not be the type you typically go for, but if he meets your standards and you find the chemistry building over time, that can be a recipe for success.

I had the same type as you. While I enjoyed my dates with more normal looking men, honestly looking back on it I don't think that ever could have gone anywhere...

In the power of p*****, the author recommends doing that. Its called practice dates, + entertainment- guys go out with girls they aren’t super interested in all the time then ghost when convenient
