House husband. Thoughts?

Hundreds of thousands of women do all that - he's probably getting advice from a lot of their blogs - and they are also producing and rearing children. The comments there are fucking embarrassing - they'd never gush like that over a woman.

If they don't want kids I guess it's okay? If she doesn't have a career she cares about and they have a low cost of living, I'd prefer to both be working part time. I want kids so this wouldn't work for me.

I think this is great. He goes beyond simple housekeeping.

He made their house a home.

I get that we are suspicious of overly complimentary posts about men, and that skepticism is warranted.

But at a certain point we also need to believe the women posters too.

The things he does are wayyyy beyond normal minimum housekeeping tasks. If a woman did the same, I also would be praising her to high heavens.

He obviously tried to look for work in the beginning and when he couldn't he looked for other ways to provide. He probably brings some money with the honey and produce and she seems happy with the set up. It sounds like she is happy being the primary breadwinner and he's doing a great job maintaining the house and her happiness. As long as they are both happy with the set up I don't see why people have such a problem with it. Women are more than capable of pulling in more money than their spouses and it sounds like he's being much more productive in the home than he would be if he was still job hunting. They have a happy relationship and I'm happy for them.

I'm pretty against either partner staying home prior to children. There's no reason someone can't at least work part-time to help contribute to the finances until kids are added to the mix. I have a hard time believing that anyone without kids can do 40 hours per week of actual homemaking, man or woman. This sort of situation can only lead to resentment when he's basically living his best retired life while she's slogging through the day-to-day office grind.

I wouldn't do it. Men don't hang around the house the same way women do.

One of my friends had a "house husband", it turned out he was cheating the whole time.

I think if he would stay at home for potential future kids while she pursues her career and if this is what she wants it isn't that bad but right now it doesn't sound like they're doing an equal amount of work.

It’s would be cheaper to hire a gardener and house cleaning service. What value is he adding to her life? If they have kids she’s still going to be the one carrying the pregnancy and dealing with postpartum problems. This absolutely isn’t an equal situation.

It’s a no from me. I like a masculine provider. I want to be able to take a break from work at any point should I want to and stay at home.

My father works full time and provides and he has a garden going. This sounds like he’s just chilling, ew. I couldn’t.

But I don’t care about other people’s life choices. They can screw themselves over if they’d like. If she enjoys that, aight.
