The other main suspicious thing is that he never used to clean his apartment when I visited (I know - LVM male stuff. he works like 90 hr weeks but still. Not cool). But the last two times, since we got engaged, he has cleaned...Does this mean he is hiding his tracks, or that he is stepping up and correcting LVM behavior?

His story about the skirt smells like bullshit, so ask yourself- how clean is this apartment? You don't go from living in a dump to living in an even modestly well-organized home in one step. Think about it- when did you start learning? My mother had a dust rag in my hand as soon as I could walk. It's like learning math, most people don't go from long division to differential equations in one leap. It's interesting to observe what happens when an adult actually has to sit down and learn how to do it from scratch. You realize that it's NOT easy, we just take it for granted because we've had so much practice.

TLDR: His apartment suddenly went from sad boy house to girl-safe? He's not the one cleaning it. His girlfriend is.

LDR rarely last and he already sounds shitty. Dump him and only seriously date when you have a permanent residence.

That skirt story is the biggest load of bullshit I've read in a long time. He gave enough of a shit to grab some random's article of clothing, kept it for months, and swats flies with it??? But yet couldn't even keep his dwelling acceptable until very recently, after you found the skirt.

Honestly that is shit that my ex would pull. Does he also go on and on about how devoted he is to you and how much he loves being with you because he trusts YOU? If so he is he's covering his ass so when shit like this happens, you remember all the sweet things he has said, and question your own mental sanity for even thinking about him possibly cheating on you, or, bare minimum, being suspect as fuck.

Personally I will NEVER be long distance again, let alone LDR engaged. I've been in an LDR that ended very recently that almost turned into an engagement. It makes it easier for them to do shit behind your back so they can have their fun while you are locked down, with that ring as a symbol of their """commitment""" constantly in your face. Honestly, some of them are dumb af for the amount of evidence they leave behind. I guess psychopathy doesn't go hand in hand with intelligence. Window lickers.

I wouldn't take the lack of evidence on his phone as proof that everything is ay-okay. People are insanely crafty when they want to get away with something. I would take a look at the adultery subreddit to see what these devil sent beings are capable of. It happens All. The. Time.
