You could even express a preference but leave it open for him to choose something. You could say, “something outdoorsy” or “something artsy”.

Well, I have Celiac so I make sure that is known and he will account for it. Literally I’ve said, “Oh, wherever can accommodate a Celiac.”

One, I need to know that a man is going to be as careful about my health issues as I am. Two, Tbh, it’s tiring Af having to deal with this crap all the time. Someone else can help me out. I’ve actually been really lucky— the guys that are super into me ask plenty of questions and are okay with planning and accommodating my needs, so it’s obvious quickly who I can next or give more time to. Unsafe restaurant and/or few choices? That’s a next.

“That’s your job 😜” is my usual response.

Sometimes I’m met with pushback or a snarky response. In that case, I just put them in the beta male category, thank them for their offer and politely decline.

well I think it's too late with this one but next time you need him to tell you where he wants to take you before you agree. Do not agree and then ask him where he wants to take you.

Give him a suggestion for a type of food. Say I like Mexican and Italian. Can't go with with either of those. You can help him out a little, just not a lot.

Honestly, i took this as an opportunity to practice your dominance and responsiveness. Whenever a guy would ask where i wanted to go or what i wanted to do, id always say somewhere or something because thatd show that I am not only socially involved but not afraid of telling him what i wanted and expecting it. Men who didn't like me choosing the place or never asked always were red flags to me.

“Surprise me, I love an adventure”

“I gave you the time and date, now you pick the place. I’d hate to make this too easy for you”

“I’m not a picky eater so you just pick a place nearby and I’m sure I’ll find something I like on the menu”

“I’m bad at this part, I’ll let you decide where we go for dinner”

I usually say something playful along those lines. Sometimes i won’t mind picking if there is a specific nice restaurant I really want to try.

Research events and locations you do want to go to, say "yes I'd love to go to museum/park/restaurant/cafe" and then it's up to him for logistics.
