I’m 24 and also a virgin. For me, it’s part faith-based, part self-based.

I also agree that I don’t have any FOMO with sex. I’ve yet to find the right partner and someone I want to share that with - it’s a big deal for me as it’s an emotional, physical, and spiritual connection (in my opinion). I feel like I probably won’t find that connection until marriage.

I absolutely love and enjoy sex with the right guy. I’ve been fortunate that most men I’ve slept with have treated me with respect and at least attempted to make it a pleasurable experience for me. But once I experienced what it was like to do it with someone with whom I also had an emotional connection it made me realize how much better it is than just mechanically good sex. Most guys don’t care about female pleasure (some don’t even care about your safety) and I 100% think it’s a good idea to wait until you find the right person. A lot of women take sex as intimacy and approval, when in reality a man being willing to stick his penis in you means nothing, some of them literally will sleep with animals and inanimate objects just to get off.

The only thing I’d caution is to not let men find out your a virgin or they’ll fetishize it and put in effort just to be your first. Realistically, a man shouldn’t need to know that you’re inexperienced to make an effort to be gentle and loving in every sexual encounter.

24 year old virgin here, I regularly use vibrators and toys so it's not that I'm lacking sexual desire. Even in past relationships I never thought of having sex just because I was in a relationship and frankly none of my relationships got to the point where full trust was established enough to have sex. Intimacy (kissing, even hugging) with men is progressive for me and only happens when I feel like it's the right time. I don't even kiss a guy until my feelings get to that point and If a guy tries pressuring me, I immediately break it off. My body belongs to me only.

I also never disclose anything related to my sex life and take questions regarding that as a red flag. Negativity/positivity around virginity is something women should not allow into their spaces. Whether or not someone is having sex and why is NO ones business and shouldn't be used to judge them.

Hello! I [19] am also a virgin. I attribute my virginity to my faith (Christianity), high standards, and (possible) asexuality. What I’ve found interesting is that in toxic Christianity, young girls and women are simultaneously pressured to remain “pure” yet also get married young too. When I expressed my lack of interest in dating, I was shunned by “Christian” girls and women. (I can’t even begin to imagine how I would have been treated if I had also expressed my childfree stance.) As of right now, I plan to continue to remain abstinent however, I could also see myself taking a vow of celibacy in the very near future as well.

I'm 29 now and lost my virginity when I was 20, and only because of peer pressure. I was basically raped even thought I didn't realize it back then (I told him to stop because it hurt and I even pushed him to get off me, but he wouldn't). I don't like sex that much, mostly due to my experiences with men which were pretty bad. It's not like I hate sex, I think it's men who I don't trust enough to relax and enjoy.
