I chose to leave my very first relationship of six months with a LVM. A year later, I have finally have come to realize what it was. The relationship was where the LVM would just do enough to keep me from leaving him and I fell for it every time. 🤡🤡🤡Whenever he messed up, he would take me on date where it was 50/50 and after the date he would say something hurtful, and I would be scared that he’d leave. 🤡🤡🤡 Even during the last moments of our relationship he offered a half hearted movie date as a last resort and said that he was having doubts about this relationship too.🙄

My recovery has been mostly great. There are times where I have relapses in judgement, and sometimes wonder what he’s up to. But the important thing was that I didn’t cave and ask him to take me back.

To celebrate, here are some accomplishments and things I’ve done in the year without him:

  • Blocked him and some of his friends on social media.
  • Started a business with my mother and we’re launching next month.
  • Graduating with a bachelors degree (with honours).

  • Got accepted into grad school and will attend in the fall.

  • Contract renewal with work.

  • Started reading again.

  • Wearing clothes and makeup that make me feel sexy, confident, and comfy.

  • Trying out new fashion trends.

  • Treating myself to nice things.

  • Having a close and healthy relationship with my mother.

  • Having clear skin.

  • Laughing and smiling more.

  • Being honest with myself.

  • Being more assertive towards my needs at work, school, and towards my dates.

  • Re-organize room and closet.

I’m happy I’ve achieved these things in such a short time!
