You weren’t being harsh. Whether he was firstly interested in you or not he’s proving he is not going to make effort. You were right. You’re not petty. You’re setting your standards from the very beginning, whatever you tolerate is how you teach people to treat you. Onwards and upwards.

Your first mistake was saying yes when you wanted to say no.

Your second mistake was caring about the opinions of Pickmeishas.

This is your time we're talking about, arguably one of your most valuable resources. Why give it away to just anybody? Why waste it on someone you're not interested in? Why "just give him a chance"?

The "just give him a chance" rhetoric comes from the (inaccurate) belief that "Mr. Right" could be anyone, anywhere. No. Mr. Right is not a LVM who leaves a girl on read for 24 hours. Mr. Right is respectful and makes an effort and doesn't need second chances.

Never question your gut, your preferences, or your boundaries.

I like your style. No man is leaving me on read for a day and getting another reply from me. You snooze, you lose. I have learned that giving the benefit of the doubt or a second chance is never worth it. Might as well cut your losses at the first sign of low effort or disrespect.

I could've saved myself a year of abuse and a year of recovery if I had nexted a guy for "forgetting" our date. Never again.

I gave a whole rant on this to some of my friends because I kept seeing that phrase “give him a chance” and it was driving my absolutely insane.

Giving someone a chance should only apply to somewhat superficial things. Like... he likes sports and you don’t? Ok give him a chance, sometimes opposites attract. Not your usual type but all around seems like a HVM? Sure give him a chance.

But...

He fucks up or otherwise shows he’s not giving a shit about your time? Nah. That’s not a “chance” that’s an invitation to be a dipshit for the remainder of your relationship.

“Give him a chance” really has become the rallying cry of pickmes wanting you to drop your standards as low as theirs are.
