For the last 5 months I’ve been dating a man who has lots of HVM qualities(unbelievably loving, randomly buys me gifts, sees to my needs etc) but who is also no stranger to LVM tendencies as well(smoker, unmotivated, v messy, jealous). We’re very compatible in many ways, more than I’ve found in other partners, but regardless of his HVM qualities I couldn’t help but ruminate on the LVM parts of him.

I eventually broke up with him a week ago but now I am in such agony; I look back and see the ways I fixated on the bad and avoided the good. I want him back so badly and I can’t help but feel like I made a huge mistake.

How do y’all not get to this place of immense regret after a breakup? I really am afraid I let a wonderful partner go because I fixated on the bad, and only had clarity once I left. I feel like this is the pickmeisha part of me justifying bad behavior but DAMN it’s hard because he was such a mix of HVM and LVM. help a girl out I don’t wanna be in this headspace.
