I’m currently slumming it away in retail hell, at a high end liquor and wine shop. I have to say, it’s insane the amount of couples that come in where the woman pays. What’s even worse is the ones who absolutely insist on it. The men will occasionally put up a half-assed objection, but when the women say dumb things like “you’d better let me pay” the guys do not object. Depending on the couples I’ll either quip “oh you got a sugar mama” or just stare at the guy, while the woman is operating the debit machine. Fucking scrubs. Of course these clowns are letting them pay. I would say it’s actually more common for the woman to pay in a couple, than for the man. Occasionally couples split their bills, in separate transactions, which is almost just as bad. Like come on ladies, these dudes should be buying their own booze, and yours as well. Another pathetic thing I am constantly seeing, is women doing their husbands’ bidding and hunting for allocated bourbons. Are they trying to earn their keep? Some of these bourbons are hard to come across and I just know these women are going to multiple stores around the city trying to find some damn Blanton’s for their husbands. I’m sure the ladies are really pleased when they find some, thinking they’ve done something nice for their husbands, but would these men do the same for you? They absolutely would not.
