Good morning ladies! I have been lurking on this sub for a little over a year now. I’ve learned some hard truths about my pick-me ways and I am working daily on leveling up and never accepting a low value man again. I am a single mother to 2 amazing girls. They are 12 & 15.

Unfortunately throughout their life they have watched me choose men that weren’t worth anything, including their fathers. I was married to both of them and divorced due to domestic violence in 2006 and I divorced my other daughters father in 2013 bc he had a bipolar episode and became addicted to basically whatever he could get his hands on. So here I am today raising these girls totally on my own.

In the last 2 years I have become financially independent. I no longer qualify for any government assistance, I have a savings account, I’m close to being able to buy my own home. I’ve been single for 2.5 years and I am so content and happy without a man.

So here’s my question- how do I help my daughters heal and not follow the same path with men that I did? My 15 YO seems to be heading down the road of accepting any attention from boys that she can get. It’s hard to hear her talk and obsess over relationships at this age but I feel like I set a horrible example of how women should be treated. She is in therapy for trauma related to the abuse she suffered from her father but I don’t think it’s helping her perspective on relationships.

Any advice, books, resources? Thank you!
