It’s just an ego thing. They make these stories up for the women who lurk that sub as a way of shaming them for having standards.

Oh, and there’s also a dopamine factor to it. If there’s even a 1% chance that what they said made a woman feel small, it sends them over the moon.

Ok I think his story is fake but something like this happened to me two years ago.

I met a guy on OLD and we dated for about a month until he up and cancelled our date last minute. I was really torn up about it because I liked him and my feelings were developing.

I let a few weeks pass to try to get over it but my old pickmeesha self texted him one last time to see if I could improve the situation. He said that I needed to be more reciprocal in my actions. I agreed and we set up another date.

Between the first cancellation and our upcoming date, I decided to improve myself from the outside and work my way in. I got a make over and did a wardrobe overhaul. I wanted to surprise him with my new and improved look.

He ended up cancelling our date again. Last minute just like the last time.

I'm pissed off at this point so I schedule to have my photos professionally taken, work even more on myself, and put up more online profiles just to keep the ball rolling.

A few months later, I see his profile on one of my apps and he contacts me. "I miss you :(" I don't reply. He messages me again, this time on my phone "I saw your pictures... They look amazing" Still, nothing from me. Then in his last ditch effort, he messages me one last time on the app with just my name in caps trying to get my attention. I block and delete him from the app and my phone history.

It felt good to get that attention but at that point I didn't really need it from him anymore. He didn't want me back when he had me and he absolutely can't get me after all this work I've put into myself.
