There are several webforums for women conned by a MENA man, who was just looking for a green card and a sugar mama.
This behavior is not exclusive to those countries, of course. Some of us still remember what happened to Terry McMillan.
If it's too good to be true, it usually is.

IIRC On top of the green card fraud, Terry’s man turned out to be gay, too.
Edit- From Oprah: “The then-43-year-old author was vacationing in Jamaica when Jonathan Plummer, a charming 20-year-old Jamaican, first caught her eye. Terry pursued Jonathan even though she was old enough to be his mother.”
2nd edit: Um, that last line is some shade though. Never do I ever see articles written so explicitly calling out the age gap like that with the genders reversed like “Leo pursued [name of model he knew when she was an infant] even though he is old enough to be her father.”

This happened to my aunt. She had a kid with him after he became a citizen. Then he admitted, after nearly a decade, he was only with her only for the citizenship. After she left him, he married an ex who he'd been cheating on her with, and then she got citizenship.
She wanted to report him, but didn't want the father of her child deported.

This happened to my auntie by marriage. We all live in England and my step-grandmother is from Jamaica. My aunty went on holiday in Jamaica and met one of these 'rent a dreads'. Anyway he managed to work his way into her heart and she brought him back to England to live. He started sleeping around and fathered a child by this woman not even 3 miles away. He was draining her of money so one night she cut off his dreadlocks and kicked him out the next day.

Got a friend request from some guy named “Prince” who found my blog and stalked out my Facebook through it. The first sentence of his bio was literally “I am the best,” and the rest was about how he’s just looking for new relationships and wants to get to know people. He commented on my one public post telling me to add him back cause he likes my writing. Lmao no

My former pick me friend is the type of idiot that falls for shit like this. They have the audacity bc women out there are giving it all away smh. She literally met some random dude on a trip to Jamaica who was totally hustling her and she would refuse to believe it, even after seeing a video of him with another girl on social media. That was the last straw for me I can't be friends with someone who is that stupid it was pathetic. Sorry if I'm being harsh here venting a bit lol but it was infuriating.
