Yup, they're real. But if you're paying only a bit of attention you can sniff them out really easy.

I would never describe myself as woke, but I guess I am in a way. The trick is to not be too vocal about it and just let them show their true colors.

I'm vegetarian, mostly vegan. I care deeply and passionately about the environment, gender and racial equality and I come from a mixed POC family (my mom's parents were indigenous to a former colony of the country we now live in). I turned out very white, but I witnessed racism (to my family) from a front row seat even when we were privileged in other ways. It might not be as bad as the States, but there still is racism where I life, you can find it in the little (and sometimes even big) things.

Because I look caucasian, went to university (and have multiple degrees), went to a sorority, have a lot of friends and ex's who are very successful, live in a nice and pricey area and have a good corporate job, people mistake me for being 'like them' a lot. They don't know how I grew up, what I witnessed in my life and what my core values are. This means they feel very safe with me to unload all their unwoke bullshit if I let them.

My advice is to never present yourself as woke, but just be very neutral. Let the other person show you their true colors.

My ex did this. I had no idea. It was only after we broke up I discovered - he doesn't "believe in" systematic racism. Or the pay gap. Or feminism. Or BLM.

I almost fucking vomited. And that's despite finding out he was a sex addict paying prostitutes!!

He hid who he was entirely for 5 whole years.

I am terrified of ever going through this again. I know the best way is to keep quiet and let them reveal themselves, not nail your colours to the mast, but I think most men KNOW most women are empathic and more likely to have liberal progressive views - yknow what with caring about other humans !!! So even the ones who openly purport to have these views probably don't.

So I'm just really scared. Didn't matter with him, if I asked direct I was lied to, if I coerced casually I was lied to. He was always a step ahead.

Feels like there's just no way to protect yourself.

Men lie, manipulate and maneuver women for a few minutes of sex. This is because rejection is hard on the poor lads and they literally don’t give a shit about ethics, respect or a woman’s feelings. She’s just a selection of holes for his penis to penetrate.

For the up leveled sexual psychopath, creating an elaborate political facade to groom women- luring them with fake personalities is fun and exciting. It’s just like going deep undercover to hoodwink the enemy and win the war of the sexes.

The best way to avoid being woke fished, I think, is to not reveal everything you think and are passionate about. Alot of people are publically for an against things. They dont want to be seen as being against popular opinion in front of other people.

For this reason, I tend to stay away from overly agreeable people. People who will agree with X in one breath and then agree with Y in the next. They dont stand for anything usually. And when someone does or say something problematic, they will usually not react or be upset by it because they dont actually care.

I would say pay attention to actions over words. Its fairly easy to tell if a person gets energized as is passionate about a topic. Versus a person who is blankly saying the believe in something.

Imagine faking your beliefs just to have sex with someone though. PA. THE. TIC. Sex is that important to men that they would lie about their feelings on racism? So pitiful.

Lmao. Yes, I’ve encountered a plethora of these men. It’s like they feel they have no other redeeming qualities they can connect to women with.

My favourite is a guy who claims to be “vegetarian”, yet fishes, eats fish, hunts animals for fun/as trophies. Sad.

This is why we cannot judge people on words alone. What they do reveals who they are.

Honestly, I usually ignore what people claim to believe. First, it's rarely my business. Second, people are often wrong. It could be intentional deceit, or it might be ignorance about what they have identified with, or they might have a true lack of self awareness that they do not practice what they preach. Third, people change.

Words mean so little sometimes. Don't take people at their word, especially when dating. If we are vetting them, why would we assume they are honest?
