Don’t bother manipulating a LVM from doing weaponized incompetence. Just leave him. It will only get worse if you have children with him.

Misogynists deleted their videos and accounts because of this badass Tiktoker Drew Afualo! She tells women to keep their standards high and know their worth. Her good-looking BF treats her like a queen. This is the living proof that FDS works. Keep your worth and standards high.

Hilarious. Also, this is a genius move if you want to use a scrote bug spray.

This really backs up the study on a majority of men leaving/cheating on their terminally ill wives. 🙄

Kanye wants to take away her right to remarry through court wtf. He also wants to make it difficult for her to divorce and claim her prenup.

I recently re-watched that and i'm shocked and disgusted by not realising that happened in that movie. Alot of movies are made by men so no surprise and also we are in a patriarchal society. This stuff needs to be outed.

It's Sixteen Candles and I also recently rewatched it. I remember when this movie came out and now am seeing it soooo much differently.

Jake seems high value in many ways but he tells Ted to take his car and take Caroline home. When Ted points out that she's drunk, Jake says something like "she'll never know the difference". The scene in this picture is when they both wake up in the car, and it's clear they've had sex. And Jake has the audacity to pull up next to them and act disappointed that she cheated.

She never cheated cause she wasn’t in the right mind to consent.

I agree. But the way Jake acts, she's done a horrible thing. A thing that he set her up for.

And then she's actually happy about hooking up with him, so in the end the geek (Ted) gets the hottest girl in school. Teaching boys that if you just force yourself on a girl she'll fall in love with you.

Yeah, that scene shocked me, and I have never watched the movie again because of that.

Most 80’s teen movies are gross and feature some sort of rape/sexual assault/objectification of women. 2000’s teen sex comedies seem to be inspired by movies of the 80’s.

Even in Say Anything, which is my favorite 80’s teen movie, Diane’s dad seems to have some sort of incestual interest in her. At least emotionally.

Omg can you give examples for Say Anything? I think it went over my head. I tried to google it, but I can’t find anything.

Nothing too specific that I can remember, but the father is really close to his daughter since his wife divorced him. He is insanely jealous and controlling of her first and only boyfriend under the guise that she will ruin her education for a boy who is less ambitious. Diane’s boyfriend Lloyd is a perfect gentlemen the entire relationship but the father is suspicious and jealous of him the entire time. Diane dumps Lloyd because of her father’s influence. Diane’s dad is her only friend because she was too busy studying and taking college prep courses to bond with people her own age. He seems to be her only family member besides her mother, who is distant and cold and insults her looks.

He gets really jealous after she tells him she lost her virginity and the fact that they’re so close she feels she has to tell her dad she is havin sex when she is 18 and about to go to college. It’s just a lot of emotional incest since her mother isn’t around and she chose to live with her father in the divorce. The title comes from her father telling her she can “say anything” to him. Just a weird vibe from him for the entire movie.

Yep in the Breakfast Club the bully attracts the popular girl after spending ages acting inappropriately and cruelly towards her. Like please. I like that movie but I could never stand that dynamic.

I mean, as an East Asian person, that movie always sucked for me, but yeah, I did always think the other men weren't exactly princes.

Not really gonna look for HVM values in 99.99% of 80s movies, tbh. Especially the teen comedies.

I've never watched it. But that article draws a really insightful narrative of why rape culture isn't specifically overt: it doesn't say "ten guys raping a girl they've never met in an alley is okay". It simply shifts and reframes rape until it's "not really" a problem, so that like a seasoned narcissist they can slither and gaslight their way out of the spotlight and blame the woman.
