100%. I always call before date to ask them some "pre-screening" questions and make sure the vibe is okay. There's no excuse to not be taken somewhere nice or thoughtful for a first date

This is far from an unpopular opinion here sis, in fact it's literally what FDS recommends: never do coffee dates or walks, a first date should be in a restaurant or something similarly high-effort, and video dates are a much better first meet than any coffee shop. You're preaching to the choir!

Men 100% count on coercing you in person by forcing you into situations where you'd feel impolite if you refused his advances. They don't want you to weed them out early and easily via video chat.

Is a walk in the park considered a date now? And grabbing coffee as well? I may be old but walk dates sound like something a 13 year old would do - in that instance it is cute because asking a girl “wanna walk with me to the bus stop” or whatever when you are both teens is one of the few times you both are free to awkwardly flirt and chat. Coffee dates.....what? This is something college students do - WITH FRIENDS, or when they are trying to build up courage to actually ask a girl out to a proper date aka a restaurant. Or something you do with someone you know well, not a stranger.

First date should be a restaurant. I agree that video chats are good to get a feel on the guy as well as how he lives. As you progress in the relationship you can get more creative with dates. For example I don’t like going to museums or art galleries for a first or even second date; I prefer that third date and later when I know them a little better. Trivia nights are fun but that is for “established relationship”, not first date.

I mean, yes, this is in the handbook so 99 percent of women on here agree that a predate video chat is the way to go. Then you move onto dinner etc. And if your area has too many covid cases and it’s not safe to have dinner, then don’t date at all

Before the pandemic, I was not up for pre-date phone calls. It felt weird and scammy. I don't like giving guys my phone number before the first date if I can manage it. Now, I do think that it's a time saver if you're not sure because hearing someone's voice and experiencing them having to make conversation in real time is a great way of avoiding sitting through a bad first date. But, I don't know... I'm still not enthusiastic about talking on the phone in general. I'd rather someone make the time to see me than call or text, especially if we're not exclusive. Don't try to waste my time during the week in between dates.

*phone call should be done before a physical meetup date because hear me out... do NOT put in the effort for a video call. I will not be bothered to do my hair, makeup, get all pretty, and make sure I'm sitting in a nice place so the background looks nice for a man that might be LV anyways.

If he wants to do a video call with me I need a deposit of him sending a bottle of wine, a dinner, or a gift card so I can get one.

A pre date phone call should be the way to go for 30 min max.
