I’m sorry but if his parents are paying his rent and he’s 30 he isn’t HV in my books. I’m 27 and I don’t even make that much money, but I’d never let my parents pay my rent at this age.
He sounds entitled and spoiled and completely unaware of the experiences of normal people. I’d be interested to hear of any other potential red flags you see in him, if there are any.

He’s like gold-digging but with his family lol

Like, does he have a job? I’m sure OP wouldn’t be dating him if he was unemployed. Why can’t he pay his own rent and learn how to make it in life apart from the assistance of his parents?
I understand family wealth and being a part of a family business, that’s fantastic, but this behaviour sounds unmotivated and spoiled to me.

You can date across class boundaries, but this main ain't it🙅. I'd leave him. He doesn't even respect your opinions. He chooses to overlook what has shaped your identity.
Do you seriously want to pursue a relationship with him?

It's not about class. It's about being an asshole, and this guy is one.

To be honest... I don’t think it’s very possible. Maybe it’s possible to start a relationship, but not in the long run.
Empathy comes from experience. Someone who’s never experienced what you’ve experienced will not truly understand, relate, or empathize. And you’ve noticed this too. Eventually one (or both) of you will feel taken advantage of.
Also this guy in particular sounds like a loser.

Can he afford vacations ONLY because his parents pay rent? Honestly I wouldn't take a man living with his parents seriously unless he was there to help THEM out.

You’re still thinking about it because your gut instinct is telling you to RUN

My mother calls her marriage a social experiment, because my parents were raised in very different settings (my mom's family is working class). The thing is, though, they have a very similar work ethic. My dad would never take money from his parents for rent, he pays for himself. He wouldn't DREAM of making fun of where my mom comes from either. He has the utmost respect for his in-laws.
This guy lacks empathy, and class.

You’re making the right choice to run. I spent 10 years being gaslighted like this. I grew up in a similar economic situation as you where a $14 school activity would have been stretching it and my ex grew up in the best school district in our city...think multi-million dollar homes. Any time I would talk about my childhood I was talked over and made to feel sorry for him because he didn’t live in the richest house in his rich neighborhood therefore he knew what it was like to grow up poor lmao.

I think it is possible when they have self awareness and an open mind. Bonus points if he ever went backpacking (had to survive with the minimum).
This one? No. It sounds like he has no idea what less fortunate people go through, and he dare question why not everyone can make international trips. I would not like to be with someone like this.
