I'm not asking for anything I don't bring to the table. I am pretty, fit, slim, intelligent, emotionally intelligent, employed, and I am not an over-giver or people pleaser. People like being around me. I've had attractive guys in the past tell me I'm the "hottest girl they've ever been with".

But anytime there's a handsome, hunky guy who is a good person who I might like to date, I convince myself that I'm not pretty enough for him. Or my boobs aren't big enough for what a guy like that would want. Or that I'm not "cool" enough.

My mother pretty much rejected me when I was a tween and teenager. She was super abusive and neglectful. I've gotten therapy but maybe this infects my thoughts. Even when a handsome guy is into me I'm thinking "oh, he doesn't REALLY like me. He just wants to have sex with me". I've been stopped in the street multiple times to be called pretty. I still struggle to feel pretty.

Then, I'll see a handsome, stand -up guy. A hunky nice guy who has a girlfriend that isn't a "knockout beauty". And I tell myself "see? You don't need to be perfectly gorgeous! You don't need to be perfect to be loved".

But then when I meet a great guy I'm thinking "he'll probably think he can do better. He's going to see me over time and I'm not going to be special to him anymore. He will leave".

I want to stop Because this has resulted in dating guys who aren't that great, and they don't treat you better anyway. I recently dumped my super handsome and hunky boyfriend because either he was just not that into me from the beginning and he was bullshitting me (I guess he seemed authentic but he really wasn't calling all that much). Or I drove him away. I got SO NERVOUS around him. I kept thinking "I'm not good enough, he thinks I'm stupid, I bet he thinks I'm ugly".

I just can't make it stop

And I want it to stop.

I want to be like one of these women who is "pretty enough" and dates the handsome nice guy. How do I stop this self fulfilling prophecy? :(
