It was for Lysol...to apparently douche with? Shudder In the 50s Lysol made a ton of horrendous ads about husbands being garbage because their wives have smelly vaginas and need to douche with Lysol. They even came out with a "feminine hygiene" booklet. Terrifying

Lysol also made veiled suggestions that its products could be used as birth control!
That claim was not true.
By 1940 the douche would become the most popular “contraceptive” in the US. A 1933 study of 507 women who used Lysol for birth control resulted in nearly half getting pregnant. Meanwhile, doctors had reported 193 poisonings and 5 deaths from Lysol douching before 1911. Women routinely complained of vaginal burning and blisters, though lawsuits were overturned and reports covered up. Never admitting fault, Lysol nonetheless changed its formula in 1952 to become a quarter as toxic as before.

Wow, douching is so bad for you. It causes bad bacteria to form in your vagina. Putting Lysol in your vagina is like drinking drain cleaner or putting acid on your scalp. People back then were as dumb as the tie pod generation Z these days.
