I used to be excited for styling potential boyfriends... until I actually had real relationships. Anyone else absolutely despise being 'tasked' with styling grown-ass men?

As I love fashion and I'm always put together, I get requests to help male friends (or exes) with helping them with fashion, too. Movies usually make it out to be a fun thing, styling your romantic partner and helping them shine (cue the eye roll post-FDS).

I've only had 1 real male romantic relationship, and I too thought that styling him would be really fun. Ladies, I bet you can guess what happened next. Even though he said he wanted a style upgrade (and lord helped what his clothes looked like), there was no enthusiasm for the prospect, nor any real yearning to learn how to actually style himself. It's like he wanted to come out looking fresh with minimal emotional, fashion, and even financial labor. It astounds me how LVM expect their girlfriends to transform them with absolutely no effort on their part aside from being a live ken doll.

I even talked to one of my friends who's dating a mutual friend of ours. His style sucks and when I brought up that I wouldn't date him (among other reasons) because his clothes are raggedy, she went, "Well isn't it fun having a boyfriend to dress up? You can take him shopping and have fun!" Like.

GIRL.

Have you ever taken a guy shopping!?

I commend and envy anyone who has taken a guy shopping and have had that man appreciate your effort and teachings.

But the audacity of a man to expect to be catered even down to the clothes he wears... ridiculous. What are some of your experiences with men and their abysmal fashion sense? If you have, how has it went for you?
