Hey gals!
I've been a lurker for a few years now and I thought I'd finally break the ice with my most long standing opinion that you guys have help shaped. I'm currently studying computer science in college. We all know that this field is notorious for money and career opportunities, etc, etc. All good things, right? You would think that me, as a woman in this field, would have a hoard of options available to me to pursue.
Boy was I wrong. The men I'm surrounded with on a daily basis (and I am surrounded, almost all my classes are 99% male) are some of the worst I've ever met. I live in a liberal area, and still there's so much misogyny on a daily basis. Acting like me and my fellow female students don't deserve to be in the same classes as them, talking over female voices in classrooms, staring at girls like perverts. Honestly feels like hell. I've lost so many girl friends who changes majors because of this nonsense.
And the worst part? They don't shower. Or if they do they don't use soap, because every single one of these fucking guys stinks. I walk into the engineering buildings and you know what I'm met with? A wave of body odor. And to think that most of these guys will in a year or two be earning six figures right out of college, in lucrative fields and be shaping technology and in connection a lot of our world? So many of my classmates, who are vile, incels, stink, etc, are already working at the worlds top companies.
I'm writing this as a word of caution to any women dating or thinking of dating tech guys. Even though they make a lot of money and the work they do seems super important, most of them were absolute assholes in college and can't even wash their fucking bodies. No amount of money or ambition will ever make me date a tech dude, ever! Even if the guy himself isn't like that, I'll bet you anything his friends and colleagues are, and he isn't jumping through any hoops to defend women. After all, they know damn well how those men make it easier in turn for all men.
I try to take the best out of the situation, that I'm here to make a space for women, but it just makes me really never want to touch a man. I'm so glad I'm bi.
Any women already established in the tech field have anything to say about this? I'm hoping with age they like better themselves or something, but for right now I literally can't stand the boys in my life.
