I'm a dyed in the wool socialist, and I've been wary of the men's rights movement because of the undertones of hate and conservative ideology that run in it. Unfortunately, I am a survivor of violent female perpetrated domestic abuse at the hands of both my mother and my ex-girlfriend, who used their identities as women to both perpetrate and escape accountability for their abuse. It's disgusting and heartbreaking for me to see the trauma of men like me, who have been hurt by female abusers and hurt by current gender roles and expectations, be used as emotional fuel by conservative media influencers to spread their hateful and oppressive ideology. I'm glad that there's a space for men's issues to be discussed and for pop feminism to be criticized in a left wing context, without any worry of cooption by Jordan Peterson shills. Thanks for existing fellas, you give me hope.
