This is a controversial thing to say, but honestly I feel like men are sort of neglected.
Men do suffer a lot more in certain issues.
Examples are:
Male suicide is 3.7 times higher than female.
70% of the homeless population are men
Men are 10 times more likely to die at work
Apart from these problems, we also have problems that are commonly viewed at as female problems. Because of this males are not only vilified, but ignored when they're the victims.
For example:
Rape
There has been a limited, but significant amount of study into male rape, and these studies have proven that male might be as likely to get raped as females are.
This study finds that 48% of people who self-report rape/attempts to rape are women.
This survey conducted by the CDC in 2011 found that 1.7% of males were forced to penetrate within 12 months before the survey (which by all means, is rape, but often isn't counted legally or statistically as rape)
During the same time period 1.6% of women reported being raped.
Keep in mind that this is still significantly under reported.
According to psychologist Sarah Crome, fewer than 1 in 10 male-male rapes are reported.
Female on male rape is also severely under-researched making it really hard, but not impossible to know the truth.
Not only that, but in some countries, legally females can not commit rape. In England for example, only men can be considered a rapist under the law.
Even if men aren't raped as much as women, it shouldn't matter. No other problems that affect men more is considered a gendered issue (suicide, workplace deaths,ie) why should we do the same to rape?
