The whole idea is another extension of the abusive tactics of feminism. It's DARVO for men as a whole. Deny that men have any problems, Accuse men of not opening up about their problems, and Reverse Victim and Offender by putting the onus on the individual man to open up, rather than society for not accepting him and his problems.

Opening up to people who are a safe space for your thoughts and feelings is great. Opening up to people wo aren't is terrible. If you're opening up and get negative reactions for it, that was a test not of your emotions or opening up as a concept, but of the people you opened up to. It appears that in your case, they failed.

My experience is that there's no way to win an argument with people. If you try logic, they think it can't be that serious because you're NOT freaking out or crying your eyes out or whatever. If you DO let your emotions out, people tell you to toughen up or don't be melodramatic or don't raise your voice.

The ONLY thing you can do is extricate yourself. That gets you out of the situation and if they try to block you it shows you what they are really like.

Yeah ive encountered this narrative and id say this is blatant sexism. Men are devalued when they have feelings, theyre devalued when they dont have feelings. Its a lose-lose game that is unique to men and its fkin traumatizing.

I've always wondered: what's the point in talking about feelings anyway? How does that solve anything? If I'm angry about something I can change, its more useful to talk about solutions. If I can't change it, its better not to dwell on the topic. Talking about emotions is a very good way to just make them spiral, which is not productive or healthy.

Neuroscience backs this up, by the way. When men talk about emotions, their cortisol goes up. In women, it goes down and releases dopamine.

At a biological level, (most) men and women are different so the same techniques do not work for both of us. Feminists should understand and respect that. To do otherwise is Chauvinism.
