I get told that women are more successful in school because they are more studious, better behaved with a greater attention to detail. They are naturally less violent and if women ruled the world there would be no war and conflict. I get told that women are tidier, calmer, more organised, more sociable and generally just better than men.

So why does the absolutely obvious fact to everyone involved that there are fewer women in tech simply because they simply are not as interested in it send people in to such apoplectic rage? It's not even saying they are not as good, just less interested.

It's strange. Even speaking to women who have absolutely no interest in tech (which is most of them) don't believe there is in interest gap, and will also claim the contents of the first paragraph is true.
